Forgotten Isles on iPhone?

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

One hour. That’s all it took to convert my Ludum Dare game to an iPhone build.

Optimization is the word of the week. I got the game running, but it isn’t smooth. Sadly, the shader I used doesn’t work, so I’ll have to write a new one, or bake in some basic lightning. I implemented the joystick from a previous project and used that instead of the arrow keys.

Functionally, it all works. Performance needs a lot of help. I’ll keep you updated. The goal is submit it to Apple this weekend.

Looking for TWIF 2D Artist

Friday, March 19th, 2010

I’ve posted a topic on the Unity forum looking for a 2d artist. The GUI and characters currently in game need to be redone, and new assets (achievement medals, pickups, etc). This would be a little bit of work, but for a long term, as I continue to develop and update the game.

Currently this is an unpaid collaboration, because the project itself has no revenue stream. There is a chance for a rev share, if monetization is added. This is a possibility; it isn’t certain and isn’t guaranteed. If you’re interested, feel free to contact me.

The Horizon and Beyond

Friday, March 19th, 2010

The World is Flat has been getting positive responses since I deployed with dimeRocker last week. It had originally received great review as a Ludumdare entry, but I had considered much of that praise biased, being solely from other indie developers being supportive.

I had been hesitant to deploy to Facebook because it was the first time I had really promoted it to a non-developer crowd. This personal accomplishment, along with feedback I’ve received, has motivated me to continue the development of this title from a simple casual game, to a larger, more involving, social game.
