The web handle I’ve gone by for the last 2-3 years is Tempest (or slight variations when required). I enjoy the correlation between the storm and the personification which becomes my character’s personality in some of the games I play.
It’s tempest is wild, chaotic and sometimes reckless, but completely natural. It, like other types of storms, gathers its energies from two colliding bodies of energy. The transfer of energy from one to the other is what generates the power behind the tempest. This collision of two opposing entities causes the generation of the storm; of the tempest.
In this circumstance the two bodies of energy which are nearing each other are the “game industry” and the indie developer state I foresee myself being in. As more signs appear, trying to pull me towards one the “industry” side, the more I desire the other. Thus the conflict begins.
The “transfer of energy” is my personal observations, critiques and reflections of what is the established status quo for online gaming, and how I might better adapt, change or reinvent what most players have taken for granted. This period of development where the creation of my identity takes place. This friction between the “industry” and the “indie” cause the storm gather, the tempest to form.
It is now in this form, with this identity, I hope to find my way from where I am to where I want to be. That time, however, may be a ways off. The storm is coming and shows no sign of letting up. One day it shall pass, but until then it’ll be a wild ride.
